Thomasson Primary follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) .
The IPC units of work provide practical cross-curricular activities based around a theme from Early Years to the end of Key Stage 2 which are helping us to move towards a whole school Creative Curriculum, ensuring that children’s learning experiences are as stimulating as possible whilst maintaining a high standard of academic, social, spiritual, emotional and physical development. Everything is based on clearly-defined learning goals or standards which lay out the subject, personal and international knowledge. The skills and understanding children need at different stages of their primary school life are clearly detailed.
We have carefully planned our curriculum over a four year cycle using the Route Planner to ensure curriculum breadth and balance (see the Curriculum Map detailed below). In Literacy and Numeracy we continue to follow the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies. However, we are planning to make links with the IPC units where possible. Personal, Social and Health Education, Religious Education and Physical Education continue to be taught as separate subjects.
Every child has an Individual Communication Programme and an Individual Education programme detailing specific areas of development which are reviewed during the Annual Review meeting. If you want to know more about our Curriculum please contact Miss Reynolds the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for the Curriculum.
