What we do
The Governing Board is made up of
- Two Parent Governors elected by the parents
- Six Co-opted Governors elected by the Governing Board
- One Staff Governor elected by the staff
- One Local Authority Governor elected by the LA.
- The Headteacher elected by the Governing Board
The full board meets three times a year
The Governing Board’s main responsibilities are:
To set the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction
- To carry out statutory duties regarding safeguarding and attendance
- To review and approve the school budget including the use of Pupil Premium Funding and the PE grant
- To decide policy on such things as equal opportunities, behaviour and special needs provision etc
- To monitor the performance of the school
- To oversee the curriculum provision
- To appoint, challenge and support the Headteacher
- To occasionally sit on appointments panels or panels that handle staff or pupil discipline issues or complaints against the school
- To engage with all stakeholders to work together for the benefit of the school
Many of these functions are carried out by committees which meet three times a year. Governors volunteer for these committees according to their own interests and experience.
