Maths

At Thomasson we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of learning. Our approach to maths helps our learners develop their conceptual understanding of mathematics by using concrete objects, pictorial representations and abstract thinking.

Our curriculum is designed to provide learners with a solid foundation in mathematics. Learners will gain a deep understanding of mathematics including how to solve mathematical problems.

Our aim is for our pupils to:

  • develop their confidence and their ability to recall and apply mathematical knowledge in different contexts
  • explain their methods and thinking processes and apply their skills in context
  • develop their problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • become independent thinkers
  • become aware of the Maths/ concepts/ process they are doing.
