Currently the Sensory Support Service will not be operating the usual service. Staff will not be continuing with school or home visits. They are working remotely. If you need any support or advice please contact your Teacher of the Deaf or Teacher of Vision Impairment through the usual method.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Please find below a list of activities and ideas you can do and use at home:
We are a Sensory Support Service supporting children and young people from 0-25 with a sensory impairment. We work closely with their families, their early years settings, schools, colleges and universities. We offer this support from the time of diagnosis, often when a baby is a few days old.
Service staff include Teachers of visual impairment, Teachers of the deaf and Teachers of multi sensory impairment. As part of our team we employ specialist teaching assistants. We also have an Audiologist and a Habilitation Officer who work across the school and service.
Some children have both vision impairment and hearing impairment and may be supported by a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Teacher of the Deaf.
We are committed to provide the best support and advice by ensuring our staff are up to date with new developments and have specialist qualifications and skills to provide the best quality service.
Children are supported at home and in a range of settings: Early Years, Mainstream, Specialist provision, further and higher education.
