Here are some websites designed specifically for children and young adults.

  • Deaf Zone  Lots of advice and support for you in English and British Sign Language (BSL).    https://www.childline.org.uk/info-advice/bullying-abuse-safety/deaf-zone
  • Young Minds A website for children and young people. There are different sections offering information and advice on signs and symptoms, seeking help and looking after yourself. Some handy advice for parents too.
  • Positive Penguins Aimed at 8 – 12 year olds. This app helps children to understand their feelings and challenge negative thinking. Four positive penguins take children on a journey to help them better understand the relationship between what they think and what they feel.
  • Dragon app This app was developed by GPs and Year 6 children in the Wakefield NHS Trust. It aims to teach 8 – 12 year olds how to make healthy choices for their mind and body. It uses a game where children are given a pet dragon to look after to build confidence and educate children about issues such as mental health and bullying.
  • Anna Freud This website offers ideas and advice about how a young person can help themselves. It offers a list of strategies for young people to  use  to manage their  wellbeing. https://www.annafreud.org/on-my-mind/self-care/
  • Kooth provides online mental health and well being support to young people via any internet accessible device. Kooth provides an opportunity to interact in a supportive way with other young people as well as receive support from a qualified counsellor. https://www.kooth.com/
  • 42nd Street – 42nd Street is an innovative young people’s mental health charity in Greater Manchester with 38 years’ experience of providing free and confidential services for people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.   • CGL – Change Grow Live is a charity who are funded by councils and local authorities and are commissioned to provide services to people in need of support for a number of issues including Alcohol/Drugs/Housing/Mental wellbeing and Prison information.   • DCAMHS   the service is for deaf children, young people and their families up to the age of 18 years old who are experiencing mental health problems including emotional/behavioural issues. Here are some websites aimed at adults, dedicated to supporting Mental Health and Wellbeing.  They contain lots of good advice and a series of free, downloadable books on a range of topics including anxiety, stress, the workplace, self harm, mindfulness and exercise.
